Rus Rus 2

This page has a lot more info about Rus Rus and the IHS medical mission that happens there each February.  The photos and info below are a good resource of info for anyone going there in the future.  As mentioned before, you can click on a photo to see it full size.

Entire families are seen together.  Below… many of the “little ones” have never been with a medical person before.  How many children do you see ?

A view of the radio station gear used by IHS in Feb, 2019

Radio Gear 1

We usually cook & eat most of our meals at the guest house, which is near the clinic.  Here you see the kitchen  with the food prep counter and some of the food showing in the overhead cabinets.  Below the counter we keep our tubs that have all our dishes, silverware, pots & pans, water pitchers and other such items.  We even have a popcorn popper.   It is hard to see but the gal in dark blue is at the kitchen sink washing dishes while looking out the screened window.  On this side of her is the purified water bottle stand.

Here is another view of that area where you can see the stove.  To the left (beyond the photo) is a full size refridgerator to store our food and cold drinks.  The generator runs enough each day to keep things cold.

In the same room is a large area where we have tables where we eat or have evening activities such as playing cards or journaling or whatever we want to do at that time.

To the left of the eating area is the door out into the porch.  It is a handy place to eat also or do many other things.  Sometimes we have clothes lines up at the far end to hang wet towels or laundry.  We also watch the sun come up sometimes if we do not have a lot of patients lined up at the clinic waiting for us to start our day.

For sleeping, we have a couple places we can stay. This is a sleeping room at the guest house.  It is small but comfortable.  There is a separate area to keep personal items.  Note the screened window.  Next to this room is a somewhat large bathroom with a flush toilet, sink, and shower (no hot water).

This bed is in one of the “apartments” next to the clinic.  It has some space around it and a shelf for some personal things.  To the left of the shelf unit is one of the places we could put the radio gear that we saw in an earlier photo and above it is a screened window.  That area also has a kitchen sink but normally there is no stove or hotplate to cook on.  The light blanket on the bed is one we brought a few years ago and it is still being used.

Near the sleeping area is one of the apartment bathrooms.  The sink and mirror is to the left.  The shower on the right, which has just cold water, is rigged so we can hang solar showers, too.
