When the team first arrives, the team will see a number of buildings.  On the left is the clinic where the medical & dental work is done -plus- it doubles as a dorm room for the men.  On the right is a church building that is used as the women’s dorm.   Close by is the village of Tipimona which has a grass runway.  Also close by is a small river called Lisangni Tingni.

This is the inside of the church building.  All the home made benches were moved to provide a lot of room for the ladies sleeping (tent) area. There is room for more things but the secure storage area is in the main Clinic building.

This is the registration area for all those who come to get medical care.  It is a busy place so it is best to keep it out side so it is kept quiet inside the clinic

4Radio Gear For Larry in LisangnipuraPreviously, we saw the medical care done in the clinic such as the dental area, lab table, pharmacy, and exam areas.  Here and below we will show some additional team areas that are important to provide team support.

To the left is a radio operator who provides all the communications for the team.  The village has no electrical power or phone systems so this radio gear does everything needed to stay in touch with the IHS admin team plus with friends & family back home.  Note that the radio guy is using a laptop.  With it he can compose and receive e-mail messages through his radio equipment.  It is not extremely fast but it does allow communications to anyone in the world who has an e-mail address.  With this gear, when conditions are right, the team can also talk with others on the other IHS teams.

In a small room of the clinic, the team’s engineer stores many misc. items to include tools and supplies for his “handy man” work.  Many hand tools, electrical, and hardware supplies are brought with the team as these items are not available in the village.  This is all part of having a team that is self sufficient.  Not shown here is also an IHS  generator that is used whenever the radio or other people on the team need electricity.  So, do not bother bringing your curling iron and other such electrical items.  Battery operated items are much more practical.

To the left are the water filters used to purify the team’s water supply.  As you can see, they need lots of water jugs as the team goes through a lot of purified water in the cooking area and for use in the clinic.
